About the Event
Pain can seem like a harsh landscape- barren, with nothing to offer except suffering. And yet pain can be a gateway in to understand our own biology, our own inner workings more intimately.
In this month's workshop I endeavor to introduce target concepts of pain science to help begin understanding what pain is.
A couple of the conecpts we will dive into:
- All pain is real and personal
- Pain as a biopsychosocial construct (an expression of consciousness)
- Pain and imaging results are poorly connected
- Pain education as one of the most underused and most important tools in reducing pain, fear avoidance beliefs and kinesiophobioa (fear of movement that can result from pain)
If you or someone you love or a student you work with experiences pain, I hope you leave this workshop with more questions as well as more tools to help find answers and understanding.
